Our Story
It all started with a hatred for coffee. Yes, you read that correctly. Coffee was never something on Matthew's radar, until he met a girl. Morgan grew up drinking coffee since her grade school days and she couldn't fathom falling for a man who despised coffee. They met on a fall day their freshman year for a Pumpkin Spice Latte for Matthew to try. To Morgan's chagrin, Matthew took one sip and scoffed at the overwhelming coffee flavors that quickly permeated Matthew's tastebuds. He quickly decided that nothing this repulsive would ever come close to his mouth again.

From there, the "date" struggled to gain any traction. No, it wasn't the fact that Matthew did not like coffee. Morgan was certainly willing to overlook such a fact, but being a freshman guy was certainly Matthew's demise, as he tried to play it cool, or not cool as he realizes now. The "date" ended without a second one in mind and they quickly moved on with their lives.

In the interim, Matthew began to flirt with coffee here and there. Some of his friends and family enjoyed the beverage, so he decided to give it another try. It started with lots of sugar to make it tolerable, but the flavor was there and the acquired taste soon became something that Matthew could not get enough of. One day, over 1 year since the first failed "date", Morgan stumbled upon a picture of a latte that Matthew had made for himself that he had posted online and she could not pass up the opportunity. How could he suddenly, not only like coffee, but start making lattes? With her inquisitive and sassy spirit, she commented on the photo saying she thought he didn't like coffee, and after several comments back and forth, the rest is history and the mutual love of coffee and for each other was born.

From then on, Matthew began drinking coffee with less and less sugar. He recognized that coffee being grown from different parts of the world emphasized different flavor notes within the coffee and that grabbed his attention. He wondered how coffee from Sumatra could be rich and chocolatey, while coffee from Africa could be fruity and light. How could different altitudes and climates and varietals of coffee beans bring about such distinct differences in flavor and aroma?

These questions grew into appreciations, which have created a passion driving us to seek out the unique and the beautiful from all coffee regions. Each region and country make up a small part of the entire landscape that we call coffee, and we want to highlight what makes each one great. After all, coffee is not just coffee to us. In God's plan, coffee was a key part in our story. So with that same passion and zeal, here's to our quest in bringing you the best coffee, one bag at a time.
